Brandon Bogdalek Newsletter The Descent Email

Your resume says you're ready.Your brain says you're not.

I left my job to build my own company — and I'm still learning to believe I was ready.

Ready Enough

Ready Enough is my weekly newsletter on what building has taught me about money, ambition, and what success is actually for. If you're standing at the edge of starting your own thing, it's written for you.

About

I was the growth guy.

For a long time, this is how I operated: hustle, grind, keep going, do it all. I said yes to everyone. I took on as much as I could, because I thought that was the operating system that would keep me from failure. I started and sold my first company, Boomtown Growth, using this operating system.

What I chase now is freedom, peace, and what feels aligned. And for the first time in my career, I feel closer to my number than ever before.

Today I own Usability House, a human factors research firm; Forge Advisory, a life sciences advisory practice; and Lumen Health Group, a healthcare commercialization company I helped co-found. I'm also a partner at Mount Haley, a holding company that backs entrepreneurs building profitable businesses without outside capital.

A few things I believe

Ownership is the most direct path to freedom I've found. A small, profitable company you control will do more for your life than a big title you rent from someone else. I've held both. The difference is everything.

Your worth was never your output. I chased a number for years believing it would settle something in me. It wouldn't have, no matter how high it got. The problem was never the size of the number. It was believing the number was the point.

When your life is in order, the business tends to follow. Health, marriage, faith, creative work. When those are solid, the business gets clearer and the decisions get better. I'm betting my whole approach on that being true, and so far it's holding.

Working together

1:1 coaching

I work with a small number of people making the leap into entrepreneurship — on the fears, the money, and the decision itself.

The community

I'm building a private group for people in the same transition: leaving the paycheck to build something of their own. Ready Enough readers will be the first to know when it opens.

For either one, just write to hello@brandonbogdalek.com and tell me what you're building. I read every note.
